Web tool/app/website review

I chose two apps to review that are very helpful in an educational and effectively organized way.

The first one is Stixy:
Stixy is an organization website tool.  It is kind of like sybaloo in a way except its a lot more versatile.  You are able to put picture, presentations, etc on your page and move them around.  I think it would be quite helpful in the every day office or school situation.

The second one is Grammar Up:
Grammar Up is an grammar education app.  I think that it would be probably pretty important to  have this app if you were working on a paper and were worried about you grammar so you need some guidance.  Overall this app gets pretty good reviews and is effective in classroom settings.

Photo Editing-Fotoflexer

I enjoyed Fotoflexer a little bit, but over all thought that they could have made the choices for how to edit a little more interesting. I did however like how my photo came out.

Before:

After:

Photo Editing-Pixlr.com

I enjoyed Pixlr.com photo editing because it was pretty simple but you can get really good results out of your editing. Heres my picture example that I edited. There's not that much difference, But I did sharpen the tree in the background and blurred it a little while brightening the flowers so it would draw attention towards the dog.

Before:

After:

School Subject Hangman Game

Music and the Arts Word Search

Creating Games

I enjoyed creating the games on proprofs.  I thought that creating the games on there that other people could enjoy was pretty cool. Also, I enjoyed playing my classmates games. I created a hangman game about school subjects and a word search about music and the arts.

Avatars

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.osoq.com/"><img src="http://characterspic.s3.amazonaws.com/OSOQ130502170Y.gif" border=0 width="192" height="192" alt="Caricature"></a>

*OSOQ avatar creator (link above)*

To me the OSOQ avatar creator was too cartoonish. I thought that the head was too big for the baby looking body but its always kinda fun to play dress up I guess even when you're a teenager.  I thought that the site was pretty well put together but it wasn't really my favorite.

http://www.doppleme.com/create/

*DoppelMe avatar creator (link above)*

The DoppelMe avatar creator was kind of cool but i think that it was kind of a bland avatar maker.  I think that they should put some more modern looking hairstyles and clothing items.  But over all I thought that the avatar creator was probably one of the best ones that was listed.

www.southparkstudios.com/avatar

*South Park Studio avatar creator (link above)*

The South Park studio avatar creator was probably my favorite one. Although it is a cartoon I think that the avatars looked more realistic than on the other sites.  I liked the site.

Wordle V.S. Tagxedo

Wordle-
Wordle is kind of cool if your wanting to make kind of a cool word advertising project or a vocab list for english or something. However I kind of thought the scheme and color options of Wordle were a little bland.  Other than that I thought that Wordle was a pretty fun little activity.
(above is a screen shot example of the wordle that I made)

Tagxedo-
I think that Tagxedo was a really interesting and fun little word poster creator.  I really like the fact that you could choose what shape the words that you typed in would appear in.  And there was a lot more color choices for what your background and your words would appear in.  I thought that the colors were a lot more appealing.  Over all Tagxedo was my favorite word generator site.

Comparison #2 marilyn manson v.s. one direction

Marilyn manson and one direction are both music of course but they are pretty different. While one direction is a kind of girly pop music marilyn manson is a rock and metal king. They are pretty much on different ends of the musical spectrum.

Comparison #1 Rock Music v.s. Hip-Hop

Rock and hip-hop are both widely loved genres of music it's true. But of course their styles are usually a little to a lot different. The styles of music are Also pretty different.

My Symbaloo

Symbaloo is a pretty helpful site.  It basically lets you have your own little page of shortcut icons to websites of your choice.  I think that would be especially helpful if you were a busy business person that needed to access all of the websites that they needed at super fast times with just a click of the mouse.  I think that it is a helpful tool.  CLICK ON THE PURPLE TEXT BELOW HERE TO VISIT.
this is my symbaloo profile

My Styx Animation

This is my styx animation!! :)

Sams Claymation

I liked making the claymation figure.  I thought it was fun.

Firefox Add-ons

Firefox add-ons are like apps that you would have on your phone or Ipad. They are useful and can be quite the tool. Here are some examples;

1.Disable Ctrl-Q Shortcut: this add on is useful when you have those annoying people in your computer class who think its funny to do the old Ctrl-Q shortcut and close out of your work. This add on permanently disables that function until you delete the add on.
2. No Script: This add-on helps you to maintain good security, and show you which websites to and not to trust.
3. LeachBlock: Leachblock is an add on that helps you manage your time wisely. It lets you block yourself from sites at certain times so that you can stay focused.
4. NoSquint: NoSquint is a add on that helps for people that have a hard time seeing the tiny text that is on a webpage. NoSquint allows you to edit the color and text size on a page for your own convenience.
5. QuickPasswords: QuickPasswords is pretty much like google drive but is strictly for passwords. It allows you to have a place to store your private information so you dont forget it.
6. gTranslate: gTranslate is a tool that lets you have the convenience of translating something without ever having to type it into google.
7. Lazarus: Form Recovery: Lazarus Form Recovery is a great add-on. It allows you to pull up a document if it was accidentally closed out of and not saved, so it basically recovers it (HENCE THE NAME).
8. Session Manager: Session Manager is a add-on that lets you control and manage your tabs without having to dig through them.
9. Similar Sites: Similar Sites is an add-on that lets you look up things and while looking up something on a page it will give you pages that are similar.
10. Image Block: Image Block is a great speed site. It lets you have the option of blocking the images on the site so that the page will load faster.

Firefox Personas

Firefox Personas are pretty much just a way to personalize your firefox browser. They are cute and easy to install. This is mine :).

Symbaloo

Symbaloo is a very cool website that lets you pretty much bookmark all the websites that you love in one group of rectangles. It is very convenient if you are in a hurry to find something like a website that you always use. This is my Symbaloo page :). Here's the link to it. http://www.symbaloo.com/#

Feedjit

Feedjit is a nifty little add-on that you can put on your webpage or blog. It allows you to see who all is looking at or following your page and things like that. I can see things like when my page was last visited and what town or state that person lives in. For example; The last time my webpage was visited was about six minutes ago and the person was from Abilene.

Icon

Icon is a web application that you would use if you wanted to get your name out there and put together your portfolio. You put together a portfolio of your work and then it gets made into a web page and application so people can see it.

Path

Path is a sort of online notebook that's almost like Facebook in a way because it lets you share the things that you are doing with your family and friends. You would use it to kind of connect and keep in touch with your family.

Web v.s. app (differences)

There are many differences when you're talking about the app versus the web page viewpoint of your page. One of the differences is how the background of your web page appears. On the web it is nice and clear, but on the app it is kinda scrunched and blurry. Another difference would be the setup of the whole thing. On the app you have lots of little buttons to help you out and you have all your posts on the side, but on the web page you have to click through like four pages to get to do something you need to. I would say that I like the app better because I like having the convenience.

Blog Guidelines

1. treat people how you want to be treated. (just because there's a computer screen between you doesn't mean you're invincible.)
2. always assume that what you put on the internet is permanent, and will stay there. (so that means think about the future and how scandalous items might affect the life ahead of you.)
3. do the research on the items that you are blogging about. (so like if you would be doing a post about how to cook a food and how it tastes don't just make stuff up.)
4. try not to offend people. (especially by making a blog about something very controversial that could get you into trouble in the long run.)
5. try to have fun with your blog. (but not too much fun, there is a limit. Make sure that you would be comfortable with even your parents or teachers or principles seeing your site.)
6. if doing a school blog, try keeping your personal life (like partying plans or anything like that) to yourself and separate.

Bloggers Gadgets

1. GOOGLE TRANSLATE- Google translate would be helpful if you needed to translate some things in a different language that would help you understand some one else's blog if it was in a different language.
2. LINK LIST- Link list is a helpful gadget because it lets you add peoples links to pages on the side of your page so that you can just click on it instead of typing it in.
3. FOLLOW BY EMAIL- Follow by email would be a helpful gadget because it would let you follow somebody's blog, and instead of going and checking up on it every two seconds it will send you emails of things that are going on.
4. POPULAR POSTS- Popular posts would be a useful gadget because you would be able to see what your most popular posts are on your page.
5. ADD TEXT- Add text would be a useful gadget to have because instead of being on the computer to post something on your blog you could just do it by text.

Blog Stats

Today i've learned how to look and see how many people have viewed my blog and where they came from.  Most of my viewers came from safari, and were on a macintosh. They were mostly in North America, but some were in Alaska.
